Home and Business Security Fences: Buying, Maintaining and Improving

Welcome to my blog on fences. My name is Penny, and a few years ago, my business was broken into. Luckily, no one was there so no one was hurt, but it made my personal sense of security feel threatened, and there was a lot of property damage. As a result of that experience, I have spent a lot of time researching safety methods. I have learned about everything from locks to fences, but I plan to focus on the latter in this space. I hope these posts and ideas help you, your family and your business to be more protected.

Reasons To Install Chain Mesh Fencing in Your Home

by Rosa Soler

One fencing style that you can use for both residential and commercial purposes is chain mesh. Here are several benefits.

Versatile

These fences are one of the most versatile barrier types. You can encircle a warehouse, a plant nursery, a home front yard, or a public playground area. The chain mesh creates a sturdy structure using steel wire. You can adapt the barrier to varying security needs. For example, choose a thicker, heavier wire and build a high fence topped with barbed wire for a high-security installation. For a house, you can construct a waist-high barrier. You can even create an enclosure to restrain tennis balls if you run a private or public tennis court.

Aesthetic Options

While these barriers are somewhat utilitarian, you can alter their look. If you want to simply scare intruders, you could stick with a standard silver colour. But you can also choose colours such as brown, green, or black. The meshing on these structures is encased in coloured PVC, and the posts and rails are powder coated in a matching hue. Thus, you can dress up the fence with different colours. For a park, you might choose a rustic green or brown. For a house, you might opt for a smart black design.

Resilience

The resilience of a fence is crucial as you'll want it to last as long as possible. Chain-mesh fences help in this regard. They use tough steel, galvanised with a zinc coating that inhibits rust. The PVC and powder coating treatments also protect the steel from the elements. Metal won't warp like timber does in rainy conditions.

Visibility and Privacy

Chain-link fences offer good visibility, which helps in several ways. In a commercial high-security environment, guards will see beyond the barrier and notice trespassers. On a home property, the front garden won't be hemmed in with a heavy border. Sunlight will be able to stream through the fence and nourish the plants and lawn.

However, you can also make chain-mesh fencing more private if you wish by using specially manufactured slats to weave through the webbing. These slats are available in different colours. Plus, you can install a faux timber design for a rustic look or weave faux greenery through the mesh. This way, you can create privacy while leaving other parts more open. You might want to shade some plants in the front garden but not others, for example.
